Longtime KTLA Entertainment Anchor Sam Rubin Dies at 64
Beloved Reporter Dies of Heart Attack
Sam Rubin, a veteran journalist who anchored KTLA's entertainment coverage for more than 30 years, died Friday in Los Angeles.
Rubin, who had been a popular entertainment anchor on KTLA-TV's morning show since 1991, died of a heart attack on Friday, according to the station.
"KTLA 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin," the station said in a statement. "Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world."
Rubin's death was a shock to his colleagues and viewers, who had come to rely on his sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge of the entertainment industry.
"Sam was the consummate professional," said KTLA anchor Frank Buckley. "He was always prepared, always informed, and always willing to share his insights with our viewers."
