Beloved Reporter Dies of Heart Attack

Sam Rubin, a veteran journalist who anchored KTLA's entertainment coverage for more than 30 years, died Friday in Los Angeles.

Rubin, who had been a popular entertainment anchor on KTLA-TV's morning show since 1991, died of a heart attack on Friday, according to the station.

"KTLA 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin," the station said in a statement. "Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world."

Rubin's death was a shock to his colleagues and viewers, who had come to rely on his sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge of the entertainment industry.
