Boeing Whistleblower Found Dead Before Testifying
John Barnett, a former quality manager at Boeing, was found dead in January in what the coroner called an apparent suicide. Barnett was set to resume testifying in a whistleblower lawsuit against the company.
Barnett had raised concerns about the safety of Boeing's 787 Dreamliner airplane, alleging that the company had used defective parts and failed to follow proper manufacturing procedures. He also claimed that Boeing had retaliated against him for speaking out, firing him in 2017.
The death of Barnett has raised questions about the safety of Boeing's airplanes and the company's treatment of whistleblowers. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating Barnett's death, and the Department of Justice is reviewing his allegations of retaliation.
Boeing has said that it is cooperating with the investigations and that it is committed to the safety of its airplanes. The company has also said that it does not tolerate retaliation against whistleblowers.
