Belgium Dominates Iceland in Nations League Opener

Red Devils Secure Convincing Win in Brussels

Belgium commenced its UEFA Nations League campaign with a resounding 6-1 victory over Iceland at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Friday. The Red Devils, ranked second in the FIFA World Rankings, displayed their attacking prowess and defensive solidity to secure a comfortable victory.

Michy Batshuayi opened the scoring for Belgium in the 16th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error from Iceland. Kevin De Bruyne doubled the lead just seven minutes later with a stunning long-range strike. Youri Tielemans extended the advantage to 3-0 before the half-hour mark, finding the back of the net with a composed finish.

Iceland pulled one goal back through Birkir Bjarnason in the 51st minute, but Belgium quickly restored its three-goal cushion through Leandro Trossard's strike. Batshuayi sealed the resounding victory with his second goal of the match in the 70th minute, completing a dominant display by the Red Devils.

Belgium's victory is a positive start to their Nations League campaign as they aim to improve upon their third-place finish in the previous edition. The Red Devils will face Denmark in their next match on Monday, while Iceland will take on England in a bid to bounce back from their defeat.
